Throughout Arkansas

As a caregiver, family member or friend of someone who has Alzheimer’s disease, you may feel overwhelmed and frustrated. Often it helps to talk with someone who really understands what you are going through, someone who knows just how you feel. You can meet that someone at the Alzheimer’s Support Group.

Alzheimer’s Arkansas, through its support groups and presentations, strives to:

· Provide the opportunity for self expression
· Assist in identifying and locating resources
· Collaborate with other organizations to improve services
· Remove the stigma associated with dementia
· Promote Hope and Optimism

Coming Soon: Memory Café: On June 19th from 1:00 – 3:00 pm Alzheimer’s Arkansas and Starbucks will be offering the opportunity for individuals diagnosed with dementia and their caregivers to get together informally. The group will meet at Starbucks, 12700 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock. We are looking for participants now! Come share with people who understand and care. Please note: for those of you who have expressed a desire to volunteer with Memory Café, there will be a training session May 16th from 9:00 – 11:30 am at the Alzheimer’s Arkansas office. Please spread the work to the community so everyone will know they are invited to participate.

Support Group Facilitator Training: August 3rd – If you are interested in starting a support group, being a facilitator or co-facilitator, this training is for you. The training is at the Alzheimer’s Arkansas office starting at 9:00 am and ending about 4:00 pm. Lunch is provided and there is no fee charged to groups who affiliate with Alzheimer’s Arkansas. Due to limited space, registration is required and the deadline to register is July 27th. For additional information contact Priscilla Pittman at 501-224-0021. The next facilitator training will be scheduled in the fall.
